When we go out, we don’t ask for food. If we have food for the trip but no fuel, we can’t navigate. If we have diesel/gasoline, we find food in the houses or in the forests we pass through.
Mission work in the Amazon involves covering large distances by boat. Without a doubt, the cost of transportation is the highest here, surpassing all other expenses.
You can make a big difference to a missionary in the field, who depends on fuel to reach distant villages, by donating one liter of fuel per month.
In small rivers where there are no gas stations, fuel is sold in PET bottles, which were transported there. That means the price can reach R$10 to R$12 per liter in the most remote communities. In larger municipalities, the price is closer to what we find in Brazilian cities. Still, comparing, the cost of a snack would definitely pay for more than one liter per month!
How to help? Sign up for the Providers Program. It’s simple: you can register your credit card with the fixed amount you wish to donate, and each month, without having to remember, the amount will be debited from your account. This way, you commit, and we can inform the missionary in the field how much they will have for visits and preaching in still-unreached villages.
I’m sure that both you and I can be part of the history Jesus is writing in the farthest reaches.
